Location: 400 block of N. Duncan Street and 500 block of N. Madeira Street
The Southeast CDC provided Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative funds to improve vacant lots in the CARE community. Civic Works’ Community Lot team led the project with the assistance of 23 AmeriCorps members, some of whom were hired from the CARE community and surrounding neighborhoods. Their roles included engaging the community around a visioning process, assisting with lot design, removing weeds and trash, planting annual flowers and perennial shrubs, and maintaining the newly planted rain gardens and green spaces during the project period.
