Job Openings

Community School Coordinator, Tench Tilghman Elementary-Middle School

A Community School is a public school that acts as the hub of a neighborhood. Community Schools provide strategic support and area-specific services for students and families with the goal of eliminating barriers to learning and success. Southeast CDC partners with five Baltimore City Schools as the non-profit partner agency.

The Community School Coordinator develops and manages a menu of services for children and families that build on existing strengths while addressing challenges that impact student and family success. They Coordinator plays a key role in family engagement, preventing chronic absence and coordinating initiatives around the school.

Internships

Interns have provided valuable services to us and to many of our partner organizations over the years. Southeast Baltimore is a wonderful community in which to work, and we strive to provide an educational and meaningful experience to all who volunteer with us.  We can often find you an internship at a partner organization if we are not able to offer one ourselves.

Southeast CDC’s staff and partners organize many programs that accept volunteers, including:

Community Schools

  • Help organize food bags for food pantry
  • Solicit donations and organize the kids’ clothes closet

Conkling Street Garden

  • Tuesday cleanups

Highlandtown Main Street

  • Design Team
  • Holiday décor installation in Highlandtown
  • Special event set up and visitor support

Neighborhood team

  • Block cleanups
  • Door-to-door resource distribution

Highlandtown Train Garden

  • Holiday season docents
  • Miniature train model repair

Tench Tilghman EMS

  • School garden maintenance

Friends of Library Square

  • Rain garden cleanups

Housing Counseling

  • Prepare workshop packets
