In 2013, The Southeast CDC hosted community Placemaking workshops at three community gathering hubs along the Highlandtown Main Street district. We asked community members what we could do to make our commercial district more vibrant, welcoming and accessible for them. Most of the resulting projects were co-designed by artists and community members.
This site at Eastern and Highland Avenues includes a new magnet community bulletin board, lighting, streetscape improvements, custom hot pink Highlandtown trash cans, and more!
The project was funded by Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Legacy program, Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc., and Highlandtown Business Association.
